Narrative Poetry Award
The Foundation sponsors the Laura Boss Narrative Poetry Award honoring outstanding writing in the narrative poetry form. The winning manuscript will be awarded a cash prize of $5000 and publication by NYQ Books. The submission period is January 1 - March 31.
Lips Poetry Journal
The Foundation financially supports the continued publication of Lips, the annual poetry journal that Laura Boss founded in 1981 and edited for four decades.
Submissions are open from September through November.
Laura Boss, a celebrated New Jersey poet, died of pancreatic cancer on April 9, 2021. In addition to her seven books and her founding and editing of Lips magazine over the last 40 years, she spent an enormous amount of time mentoring and inspiring other poets, often with her good friend, the award-winning poet, Maria Mazziotti Gillan.
As a tribute to Laura and in an effort to continue her mission of supporting poets and poetry, we have established the Laura Boss Poetry Foundation. R.ead more below about our projects
